Indonesian National Police: Scaling 3D Scanning Technology for Road Safety Impact

Indonesia faces a significant public safety challenge with over 152,000 traffic accidents recorded each year. As part of a national strategy to reduce incidents by at least 10%, Korlantas Polri has adopted 3D laser scanning solutions from Leica Geosystems—namely the PS360 and PS2GO—to enhance the way traffic accidents are documented, reconstructed, and investigated.

To date, the Indonesian National Police has deployed:

• 176 PS360 units
• 20 PS2GO units

These tools are now widely used by officers in the field, enabling faster, more accurate scene documentation and supporting more efficient transitions into the enforcement and legal process. The leadership notes that an estimated 500 units are needed to fully meet operational demand across the country’s regions.
