What do you personally appreciate most about your work with us?
What I appreciate most about working within Hexagon's Geosystems division FPGA team is the unique blend of long-term vision and incredible precision. Projects may take years to develop, but processing in FPGA is picoseconds aligned.
One of the best aspects of FPGA development is the tight integration and collaboration when working with both software and hardware teams. And honestly, the team dynamic makes it even better. Everyone brings something unique to the table, and I enjoy bouncing ideas around, tackling tough problems, and celebrating the little wins together. It’s those moments of overcoming obstacles as a team that really make the work rewarding.
What makes Hexagon's Geosystems division different from other employers?

What challenges have you overcome with us, and how did the company help you navigate them?
FPGA design presents its own set of challenges, such as dealing with varied interfaces in hard and software, balancing performance vs. power and ensure comprehensive test coverage to guarantee overall functionality. To address these challenges, the company combines advanced tools and technologies, sets rigorous simulation goals using advanced verification methodologies, and provide exceptional IP solutions to ensure high performance and reliable outcomes.
What would you recommend to new employees who are just starting with us?
For new team members, it is essential to dive deep into core aspects in a project. Specialising in key functionality not only helps them build a solid foundation of technical expertise, but it also positions them as valuable asset to the team. As they grow in this area, they will develop a deeper understanding of the technology, which will allow them to contribute more effectively to projects and innovations. This specialisation becomes the cornerstone of a successful development career, providing both the confidence and the skills necessary to take on increasingly complex challenges and advance in the field.

What do you like most about working with us?
What I really enjoy that from the beginning on everyone is very welcoming. If you approach other colleagues, supervisors, managers they will always have an open ear for your questions and try to help you with them immediately.
What makes working in your department particularly exciting?
As an electronics engineer working in R&D it never gets boring. Every product is different, you face new challenges and there is always something unexpected to explore. I think for me it is very important to never stand still and always have the chance to not only improve our products but also myself, by exploring and implementing new technologies.
What has been your proudest moment or achievement with us so far?
In general, as hardware developer, I am always feeling proud when I recognise a product being really used “in real life” to serve our customers. Like when I see a building site and an instrument being in use, where I was part of the developing team, I always feel proud of having contributed to this.
What would you say to someone considering applying to Hexagon's Geosystems division?
Yea do it.... and if you get invited to Heerbrugg for an interview why not come by my office for a coffee.
Why should experts in your discipline definitely want to work with us?
I am working mainly on the wireless communication technologies and radiofrequency parts of our products. What really makes it special is that, our products often contain an amazing number of different radios – so you will definitely have the chance to work on an extremely broad range of different technologies.
